Global Education Assessment Tools. Here you can find tools online which help you figure out what you’re already doing that’s global and what you could do further, if so inclined.

These resources are actually kind of fun. Some are checklists, some are quizzes, but all of them give you insight into where your school community already is along the spectrum of global education and where you might, if you wish, end up.

1. The Global Education Checklist

  • Why this one is clever: This checklist can help you see where you and your school land as far as how global you are!
  • Why this one is fun: You can do this checklist with colleagues and have discussions about which new elements you want to adopt!

2. The Global Competence Outcomes Rubrics (Asia Society)

  • Why this one is clever: This offers a well-made rubric that helps you understand what global competence looks like from emerging to advanced.  It’s clever because it’s a lesson-planning tool, offering “I can” statements you’ll find relevant for most lesson-planning protocols.
  • Why this one is fun: It can be done quickly and has a smooth interface, plus, you get to follow some neat rabbit-holes from Asia Society.

3. The Globally Competent Teaching Continuum (GCTC)

  • Why this one is clever: This interactive tool helps a teacher appreciate how globally competent their teaching is across 12 domains.  It can place you on a spectrum so it’s not just whether you are or aren’t.
  • Why this one is fun: It’s user-friendly and makes a personalized “map” of where you are in your global competence journey.

4. The Global Competence Aptitude Assessment (GCAA)

  • Why this one is clever: This provides you with a very detailed report and is clever for measuring competence in eight dimensions (Einstein would be astounded!)
  • Why this one is fun: It’s great to be a teacher and still get feedback about how your teaching reflects these interesting measures of global competence.
